I love making soups especially on cold days. I also like it on days Where I just don't have the time to stand there attending to food. I was going to use a ham bone in this but instead I used a chunk of ham. I cubed up the ham in bite sized pieces. I usually use dry beans, but I had to use a jar of northern beans because I forgot to soak them overnight. I added in the beans first and then added in the ham. I chopped up some onion, green pepper, celery, and carrots and added them in. I minced some garlic and added that with some salt and pepper. If needed fill the jar 1/4 to 1/2 full and add the water to the pot. I put a lid on it and put it on medium low. Let it cook 1 1/2 to 2 hours. When ready mix up some milk and cornstarch and add to pot to thicken up. |
