I made up a pork loin one night. I used it for 2 different things. Half went to bbq pork. I shredded it up and seasoned with Mesquite a little bit of cooking sherry and onions (chopped). When it was warmed and nicely shredded I added in 2 tbs. honey and enough bbq to make it nice and moist. I let it warm and combine thoroughly. I made up some batter for my asparagus with some flour, water and seasonings. This time I used some garlic and onion powder and some salt and pepper. I have a deep fryer so i threw it in at about 375 degrees until golden brown about 5-6 minutes. I made up some noodles to go with it and lightly coated them with EVOO and Parmesan. |
I used a package of Strawberries and minced up a few sprigs of mint about 2tbs sugar, 1 tbs cinnamon and about a 1/2 tbs honey. Combine in s saucepan over med/low heat. Simmer/ Boil about 15 minutes. Remove from heat. I topped my shortcakes with Strawberry sauce and my homemade whipped cream. Then sprinkle cinnamon on top.
Get steaks of your choice I used NY Strips. I seasoned them up with some onion and garlic powder and some Chicago Steak seasoning. Heat your pan to med/high. Sear both sides about 3 minutes. Remove from pan and let sit 4 minutes until slightly cooled. Depending on how big your steaks are take 1-2 slices bacon each. I used 2 on each on mine. Wrap the bacon around the steaks and secure on ends with toothpicks. Reheat your pan to med heat. Add steaks and cook up bacon. Keep in pan depending on you're preference of doneness. We were visiting the family a couple weekends ago and we made dinner over there. I seasoned up some NY Strips with some onion and garlic powder and some Applewood Rub. My lovely Fiance cooked them on the grill. He doesn't help out much with the cooking (not for lack of will but I don't like other people in my kitchen messing with my food). I love to cook on the grill but you got to give a man something to call his own so I let him cook on the grill most the time. I also made some BBQ Bacon shrimp with the steaks. It is the easiest thing in the world to do and it is really good. I like using the medium sized shrimp although it is very good with the jumbo shrimp too. For best results with the bacon cook a little bit before wrapping around the shrimp. When you wrap it you don't want the bacon to overlap it's self too much because that bacon won't cook right, it will be very chewy. I don't know about you but to me crispy bacon is a lot better. Then once you have the shrimp all wrapped and put on skewers they're ready for the grill. (You can cook them in your oven also, its just much better on the grill.) Once the bacon starts to crisp up, you need to add the bbq sauce of your choice. I like to use the sweet & spicy type sauce on mine, but any kind will work. This is your new blog post.
