It was pretty hot out the other day and I decided that chocolate shakes would be a great idea. I used regular vanilla ice cream, one chocolate pudding pack, milk, and chocolate syrup. I add in scoops of ice cream til it was just about to the top then I just started pouring in the chocolate syrup until the top was nice and covered. Then I added in a pudding pack for that extra creaminess. I didn't want to add too much milk so I slowly added it in. You can always add more, but you can't take it back out. I left it at a thicker consistency. They really did taste pretty close to a Frosty. I was very satisfied. (Wasn't what I was going for, but it worked out.) Maybe next time I'll try to recreate the jamocha shake. YUMMY!!!! |
We didn't have much around the house the other day so I decided to make a pizza using part of a roast I had left from the night before. I sliced it in thin strips I used a can of original sloppy joe and ready made pizza dough. I brushed the dough with olive oil and sprinkled with garlic powder and basil. I had slices of white american so I ripped into pieces and scattered around the dough. I baked it in the oven at 450 degrees for about 5-7 minutes just to to slightly cook the dough. Take it out and add sloppy joe sauce. I topped mine with diced red onion, roast and on half of it spinach and mushroom. I finished it off with some shredded Pinconning cheese. Bake at 450 until cheese becomes golden brown.
Need: Flank Steak Onion Powder Smokey Mesquite rub Sea Salt Pepper Cooking Sherry Olive Oil I seasoned up my steak with a light coating of onion powder, smokey mesquite rub, salt, and pepper. I let it sit for about 15 minutes after it is all seasoned. I preheat my cast iron skillet and added about 2 tbs. of olive oil and about 2 tbs. cooking sherry. When the pan is heated and ready I added in my steak I cooked it about 20-25 minutes. About 10-12 minutes per side until most liquid in pan is gone and the meat has started to become a dark brown. For this I used a cube steak and cooked it up just like you normally would. I seasoned up the meat with onion and garlic powder and some Applewood rub. I then scrambled up a couple eggs in a bowl with salt and pepper. I made my flour mix with the same seasonings that I used to season the meat. I dipped the steaks first into the egg and then into the flour mix and then repeat. When its gone through the 2 coats of batter, add it to a pan with a thin layer of hot oil. Fry then up til they are golden brown on both sides. Set them on a plate with paper towel to absorb the extra grease. Let them sit for a few while you make the gravy. I try to always have bacon grease around to add into my gravies. Turn your heat to low, depending on how much grease you have add some cornstarch and mix it all in. When it starts to thicken slowly add milk until it is a good consistency. Gravy is all on preference, some like a thicker gravy while some prefer the thinner one. If you need to season with a lil salt and pepper to taste. When the gravy is ready cut up some onion ( I used red onion because it is my favorite onion.) Butter one side of 2 pieces of bread and layer your sandwich ( I used my George Foreman Grill, but you can use a clean pan.)
You can't go wrong with chicken. I used chicken legs and seasoned them up with some Onion and Garlic powder and with Rotisserie Chicken seasoning. I added a thin layer of water in the pan and cooked them on about medium, covered until they we're cooked through. (Cooking them with the water helps them to stay moist during cooking.) When they were cooked I heated the George Foreman grill up and put them on 2 at a time just to crisp them up a bit. While the chicken was cooking I used a small pan and added a sweet honey bbq with a hickory bbq and some chopped onion and basil and heated it through. When the chicken is all done I took the bbq and poured it over the plate of chicken. I saved a little bit of the bbq to add to my spaghetti noodles I made up. I used a roast for this. I cut it up into chunks and cooked to about medium rare. I sliced it into thin pieces. I used an Italian loaf and sliced it into about 1.5 inch pieces. I buttered the outsides of the bread and layered the steak, slices of cheddar cheese, sauteed green pepper and onion, and spinach. I used our George Foreman Grill to cook them up. About 4 minutes and they were ready
I used a package of Strawberries and minced up a few sprigs of mint about 2tbs sugar, 1 tbs cinnamon and about a 1/2 tbs honey. Combine in s saucepan over med/low heat. Simmer/ Boil about 15 minutes. Remove from heat. I topped my shortcakes with Strawberry sauce and my homemade whipped cream. Then sprinkle cinnamon on top.
Get steaks of your choice I used NY Strips. I seasoned them up with some onion and garlic powder and some Chicago Steak seasoning. Heat your pan to med/high. Sear both sides about 3 minutes. Remove from pan and let sit 4 minutes until slightly cooled. Depending on how big your steaks are take 1-2 slices bacon each. I used 2 on each on mine. Wrap the bacon around the steaks and secure on ends with toothpicks. Reheat your pan to med heat. Add steaks and cook up bacon. Keep in pan depending on you're preference of doneness. Reheat your pan to med heat. Add steaks and cook up bacon. Keep in pan depending on you're preference of doneness. Smother in favorite bbq just before they're ready to be taken off.

We were visiting the family a couple weekends ago and we made dinner over there. I seasoned up some NY Strips with some onion and garlic powder and some Applewood Rub. My lovely Fiance cooked them on the grill. He doesn't help out much with the cooking (not for lack of will but I don't like other people in my kitchen messing with my food). I love to cook on the grill but you got to give a man something to call his own so I let him cook on the grill most the time. I also made some BBQ Bacon shrimp with the steaks. It is the easiest thing in the world to do and it is really good. I like using the medium sized shrimp although it is very good with the jumbo shrimp too. For best results with the bacon cook a little bit before wrapping around the shrimp. When you wrap it you don't want the bacon to overlap it's self too much because that bacon won't cook right, it will be very chewy. I don't know about you but to me crispy bacon is a lot better. Then once you have the shrimp all wrapped and put on skewers they're ready for the grill. (You can cook them in your oven also, its just much better on the grill.) Once the bacon starts to crisp up, you need to add the bbq sauce of your choice. I like to use the sweet & spicy type sauce on mine, but any kind will work. This is your new blog post. I seasoned it up with some diced onions, pepper, sea salt, Applewood Rub, and a small amount of paprika. When it is all cooked; drain. Add enough ketchup so all meat is covered nicely but its not runny. Then add the bbq of your choice. I went with a honey bbq because its my favorite. Let it cook up and thicken up a bit. Add shredded cheese to the bottom on a hot dog bun, add some of the meat in and top with cheese and diced onion. This is your new blog post. Then I topped that with some cheesecake filling. I filled the crust about half way maybe a little more. I then sprinkled cinnamon on top. In a microwave safe bowl I sliced up strawberries, added about a tablespoon of sugar and chocolate chips. I microwaved it covered in 30 second intervals stirring in between. I let it cool a bit, then added some cheesecake filling. Then topped the pie with it. I made my own whip cream with heavy whipping cream, sugar and cinnamon. Let it sit in the fridge to cool and thicken up. I used a box of Chicken helper but instead of chicken I used pork. I cubed up the pork and seasoned it with garlic powder and lemon pepper. I cooked it up in a pan with EVOO. Then cooked it according to the box. This is your new blog post. Click here and start typing, or drag in elements from the top bar.
I just love making steak a medium rare steak is one of the most delicious things there is to eat. My fiance rather enjoys them too. I just love to experiment with seasonings. With this one I used my normal garlic, onion, seasoned salt, pepper, and Chicago steak seasoning. I then wrapped it in plastic and used my mallet to tenderize the meat a bit. I made some mashed potatoes with it and sauteed up some spinach . I found it is an amazing replacement on potatoes for butter. I sauteed them in some EVOO and salt and pepper.
